The temporary West City Community Redevelopment Area (WCCRA) Steering Committee served a crucial role in drafting the WCCRA Redevelopment Plan. Their focus was to discuss redevelopment solutions in West City, gather input from the area's public, and make recommendations to the Agency regarding the best course of action for implementing goals, programs, and projects for the West City Community Redevelopment Plan.

The West City Community Redevelopment Area (WCCRA) Steering Committee consists of seven members who were appointed by the City Commission and served throughout the process of drafting the West City Community Redevelopment Plan. Once the WCCRA Redevelopment Plan was adopted, the steering committee dissolved.

According to the WCCRA Steering Committee By-Laws, preference was given to members who have established their primary residence within the boundaries of the WCCRA, established a business within the boundaries of the WCCRA, own real property within the boundaries of the WCCRA, or who were otherwise a stakeholder within the WCCRA. These stakeholders include, but are not limited to, members of non-profit organizations, churches, schools, or museums within the WCCRA.

The mission of the West City CRA Steering Committee is to support and preserve the quality of life for residents by eliminating blight, while protecting and enhancing the characteristics that make the community unique (i.e. history, architecture, the natural and built environments, culture, and diversity) through community planning, redevelopment activities, and effective partnerships with neighborhood organizations.
